META NETZEL (SCHIEMANN) 1931 - 2004 Peacefully on October 26, 2004, Meta Netzel, aged 73 years, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital. Meta is survived by her beloved husband Helmut; children, Rita Doms (Alfred) and grandson Christian Doms who reside in Germany, Vera Schulz (Michael), Harold, Walter (Karen) her grandchildren, Michelle and Christopher Schulz, Matthew and Kyra Netzel, all of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her parents, Gustav and Julianna Schiemann; sister Olga; and brother Leonard. Meta was born May 5, 1931 in the Ukraine of German ancestry. Meta and Helmut were married 50 years ago on September 4, 1954. They immigrated to Canada with their first born daughter, Rita, in 1956. Meta devoted her life to her four children and her husband. Her passion was her extensive flower gardens both at home and at the family cottage at Grand Beach. Meta enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She particularly enjoyed visits back home in Germany to visit her family. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peters Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut St., with Pastor Heimo Bachmeyer officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
